When you see this message, hold down the printer’s “STOP” / “STOP RESUME”  button for 10 seconds. “DO NOT PRESS CANCEL PRINTING”. You may have to do this once for each cartridge. Once done you will be able to print until the cartridge(s) are empty of ink.

Note: This WILL NOT reset your ink levels. It will just allow you to by pass them so you can continue to print until the cartridge(s) are empty.

Turn the printer off and then on again. This should fix this error most of the time. If this doesn’t clear the error, the printer needs repair. See the manual and contact the service center.

There is a chance one of your cartridge has dead contacts. If you have a second set of cartridges try them in the printer to see if it clears that error. If you do not have a second set please bring in both of your cartridges to Printer Refillers for us to test for you.

The chip on the bottom of the cartridge is very sensitive to static electricity, and can easily be obstructed by the oil from skin or dirt. Take a moment to gently brush the chip o with a piece of dry paper towel and reinstall the cartridge in the printer. If it still does not function, please bring it back to the service centre for further troubleshooting.

After installing your cartridges, you’ll notice the printer still thinks they’re empty, despite having just been re- lled. This is due to a computer chip installed on the cartridge which remembers that it has been used. This will not prevent you from printing, but you will get a few friendly reminders from the printer that you are us- ing “empty” or re lled cartridges.

To continue printing (see message above), read the message and follow the steps outlined. You will be prompted to do this once for each of the cartridges re- lled. After you’ve done it, you will never be prompted again for that cartridge.

Standard Printers – You’ll generally be asked to press and hold the RESUME button for 10 seconds. This button is often marked with a picture of a piece of pa- per and an arrow pointing down. PIXMA MP 150/160 printers – If the printer does not print and “E4” or “E16” appears on the printer’s LCD screen, simply press the black then the color button on the printer to acknowl- edge the error.

Multifunction Printers – The steps required for multi- function printers vary from model to model. Some re- quire you to hold down the Stop/Reset button, others may also require you to acknowledge prompts on your printer’s LCD screen by pressing the OK button.

Note: This WILL NOT reset your ink levels. It will just allow you to by pass them so you can continue to print until the cartridge(s) are empty.

If you have received the above message and have tried turning off your printer and turning it back on again and this message still appears it is most likely that the printer is dead and will need to be replaced,

Once you have received this error message from the printer it generally means your printer is at the end of its life. All methods to reset the “ink absorber” that we have tried have not worked for us.

In short, unfortunately the printer is dead and you will need to purchase a new printer.

If you see one of the above support codes, the print cartridge head may be damaged or not installed.

If you have another cartridge try changing the cartridge and see if that clears the error. If not you can bring both  cartridges into Printer Refillers for us to test in our printer. The other option would be to buy a new cartridge.
