“Used or Counterfeit Cartridge Detected: Black. The original HP ink in the indicated cartridges has been depleted. This can occur with cartridge use past the expected amount of ink.

This is a common HP scare message that typically happens when your original HP cartridge has run out of ink and/or when the chip on the cartridge tells you it is out of ink. Other times when you will see this message is after you have had your cartridge refilled. The chip on the cartridge still thinks the cartridge is out of ink as there is no way to reset the levels. Typically you can ignore this message by pressing ok/continue or press the flashing button on your printer once. It may take you a few minutes to figure out exactly what to do on your printer, as HP makes thousands of different printer models, but generally, that is what your need to do.
